Shen Lu

A native of Guangzhou, China, SHEN LU is a multiple award-winning pianist, acclaimed on four continents for his artistry, diverse repertoire and quietly charismatic performance style. According to the distinguished pianist John O’Conor, "Shen Lu’s interpretations have great depth, his technique seems effortless, and he communicates wonderfully with his audience."
Shen Lu has appeared as guest soloist with the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and New England Conservatory Philharmonic Orchestra, Spanish's Ferrol Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgium’s Orchestre Royale de Chambre de Wallonie and China’s Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra.
His performance with the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Orchestra was broadcast on CCTV, the largest national television network in China.
In addition to concerts in Beijing’s Central Conservatory Music Hall, Culture Center and City Hall, Shen Lu has been heard in, among many internationally renowned concert halls, Carnegie Hall and Weill Recital Hall (New York City), Jordan Hall (Boston), Severance Hall (Cleveland), Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, DC), Flagey Concert Hall (Brussels), National Concert Hall (Dublin),City Hall(Hamamatsu) and Seymour Centre (Sydney).
A laureate of numerous international competitions, Shen Lu was awarded the gold medal of the 2014 Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the first prize from the 2002 Hong Kong Asia Open Piano Competition. He has also been awarded prizes from the competitions of Florida, Iowa and Louisiana’s Wideman (United States), CCTV, YAMAHA, KAWAI, Gulangyu and Jinzhong (China), TOYAMA (Hong Kong) and Campillos and Ferrol (Spain); most recently, he was awarded The Philippe Cassard Prize for the best performance of a French work at the 2015 Dublin International Piano Competition.
Shen Lu earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music, having worked with Wu Ying. His Master’s Degree and Graduate Diploma were conferred by the New England Conservatory of Music, where, while studying with Alexander Korsantia. Currently Mr. Shen just finished his Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music under HaeSun Paik. In 2015, Shen Lu’s debut CD, “Watercolor,” was released on the Steinway & Sons label through Arkiv Music. Shen Lu is one of the top 10 Chinese young pianists. Now, Shen Lu is teaching at Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory of Music and he is Yangtze River Artist
