Shen has been awarded top prizes in many international piano competitions, including San Marino, Hastings, San Jose, Koussevitzky, Cincinnati, Tulsa, Lee, Vancouver, Yamaha, Kawai, Taiwan, and Taipei Chopin International Piano Competition, as well as Juilliard’s Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto Competition. Shen is a two-time nominee at the prestigious Gina Bachauer Award, as well as a laureate and diploma recipient in Chopin, Liszt, Leeds, Cleveland, Bachauer, and Midwest International Piano Competitions.
Shen holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in piano performance from the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Jerome Lowenthal and Yoheved Kaplinsky, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of Boris Slutsky. He has also studied with Ning An, Robert Silverman and Tzong-Kai Kuo. Currently, he serves as the Associate Professor of Piano and Distinguished Scholar of the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. Shen is a Yamaha Artist.
